Organized by the RIISQ with the support of the FRQ, the Confluences forum: imagining the future, acting together is a mobilising event bringing together research actors, governments, municipalities, territorial organisations and practice settings around a common challenge: to better mobilize research and collective intelligence to respond to the risks related to water and the resilience issues that Quebec society faces.
Through panels, strategic discussions, and participatory workshops, the event will bring scientific knowledge together with field experience, identify current and emerging issues, and, above all, develop avenues for collective action that can produce tangible outcomes. This focus aligns with the proposed program, which places significant emphasis on future challenges, partners’ needs, and improving collaboration among research, practice, and decision-making.
The event is open to professionals, researchers, and stakeholders in the fields of flood risk management and water and climate issues, water management, civil security, the environment, social sciences, health and social services, planning and architecture, insurance and economics, communications and public administration, as well as community organizations. The common goal: to better mobilize research and collective intelligence to address water-related risks and resilience challenges facing Quebec society.
Event Objective:
To mobilize the collective expertise of RIISQ members and partners in order to identify priorities and action plans for renewing its scientific and strategic directions and strengthening its contribution to the prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery from systemic risks related to flooding, water, and climate. This objective includes identifying the needs of different sectors, emerging issues, and blind spots, while strengthening collaboration between research, practice, and decision-making.
