Position details

Co-chairmanship of the scientific committee of the scientific journal Courants croisés

To find answers to the immense societal challenges posed by the global upheavals caused by climate change, the intersectoral journal Courants croisés: Eau, société, santé et environnement face aux bouleversements climatiques (Crossed Currents: Water, Society, Health and the Environment in the Face of Climate Change) proposes to address them through a central theme: water, whether in the context of natural disasters, shortages, erosion, pollution, epidemics, and so on.

Courants croisés was recently funded through a competition organized by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (Quebec Research Fund) to launch a new French-language intersectoral scientific journal on major societal issues. The proposed and funded project was submitted by Philippe Gachon and Yona Jébrak on behalf of the Réseau Inondations Intersectoriel du Québec (RIISQ), Précrisa, and the Réseau Québec Maritime (RQM). These networks have been joined by the Réseau de recherche et de connaissances sur la ville et l’urbain (Villes Régions Monde – VRM) and the Rural and Remote Communities in Health Network (Cares). The scientific journal will publish its first issue in spring 2027.
